Pumpkin Tips

This is another natural nail manicure done with Gelish.  She had some broken nails so they aren't all the same length.  We started with a base of Tiki Tiki Laranga Orange, and covered it with loose orange glitter.  I then took a striping paint brush and black acrylic paint to paint the stripe.  Finally we finished it all off with Gelish Top It Off.  I thought they were a nice simple Halloween nail :)

Glitzy Batty Bat Bats

I'm way behind on Haloween nails.  Seriously.  But I guess that's what I get for getting off a ship late October, and then running around like a mad-woman interviewing at Salons.  Here's a set of Halloween nails that I did on my sister and I absolutely love them.  This is just a gel manicure using Gelish gel polish.   I started out doing your standard pH prep and foundation gel, followed by two coats of Tiki Tiki Laranga Orange.  I then coated the orange with loose orange glitter using a fan brush.  I topped that with two coats of Top It Off so that the glitter didn't feel gritty or textured.  In order to stamp the Bats on, I lightly buffed the ring fingers with a buffing block before stamping my image.  I do this so that I know it will stick, and that the top coat will adhere to the whole nail after stamping.  I stamped the bats using Konad Black stamping polish and Bundle monsters 2013 Holiday collection plate BM-H08.  I topped the ring fingers off with one coat of Top it Off, removed the tacky layer and my sister was reading to go!

Nautical Digits

This is a set of nails that I did on my friend Maria.  She had some professional photos coming up and wanted something Navy in color, and then we finally settled on Nautical :)  My favorite!  We did a normal Gel fill-in with clear Light Elegance builder gel.  After we filed them into shape, we did the design with Gelish gel polish, Konad Stamping Polish, and some acrylic paint.  The stamping plates were definitely Bundle Monster, one from the early sets (anchor) and the steering wheel is from the 2013 collection, though I'll have to go back and look at the Plates for the exact numbers.  The Gelish colors is Holiday Party Blues.  Enjoy!  I love these :)

Blue Stars til Morning

This is yet another Gel Polish Manicure that I did using Gelish Oocha Coocha Bing Bang Bam-alakazy Alakazam, loose blue glitter, White Konad stamping polish and Cheeky plate 51, topped off with Gelish Top It Off.  This set honestly sparkled 1000 times more than it shows in these photos.  Nice and simple, but I love them.  So did my sister.  Thanks Kelly for letting me use you nails! :)

Purple and Silver Gels

These nails were incredibly hard to capture on camera.  This a full set of sculptured hard gel nails using Light Elegance products.  The Purple is LE Plumtastic glitter gel and a lighter glitter Sugar Coated was used above it.  Everything was capped with clear builder gel and filed into shape.  We then stamped these pretty silver vines on top of the glitter using Mash 50 stamping plate (i think) and Konad special silver stamping polish.  Like i said though, the camera just didn't like to pick up how nice these turned out.

Much love to you all <3

Neon French! Start to finish

Wowzers - this was definitely a transformation.  These neon swirl nails were done before I left on a cruise and I immediately went out on a ship to work for 6 weeks after... so this is 7 weeks of regrowth shown in the first picture.  You can see the original set of nails in their former glory HERE.  Anyway, I decided to completely start fresh, so I broke out my drill and my Young Nails safety bit which is specifically designed to be used on hard gels and removed the gel down to the natural nail.  The 2nd picture shows my nails after removing the gel with my drill.  I used reverse application to sculpt a smile line with Young Nails cover pink and then layered first the neon gel paints in yellow and orange, followed by the neon textured glitter gels, also in yellow and orange.  I capped everything with a layer of clear sculpting gel, removed the disbursement (tacky) layer and filed them into shape.  Finally I used Konad white stamping polish and Bundle Monster plate BM21 to stamp the stars on the ring fingers and topped everything off with a gel top coat Gelish Top it Off.   As you can see, the smile lines turned out super sharp :)  These were super fun to wear too.  They were so bright and shiny, they always kept distracting me!  Let me know what you think of them!  Comments are always appreciated on the blog :)  Thanks for reading!

Miss Mint

This is another post that has already been up on facebook, but that I never got around to blogging about.  This is Gelish's Sea Foam and Water Field on the ring fingers.  Sea Foam took a whopping 4 coats to get to this shade, and honestly neither me nor my mother were 100% pleased with it... but its nice enough (just one of those colors that i'll think twice before using again).  We just kept it simple with the silver accent fingers and didn't bother with any nail art.  I'd say they turned out pretty nice though.  Look how far my mothers nails have come since we first started doing gel manicures (last picture of blue gel nails taken June 9, 2013).  We even filed these down quite a bit since they were uber long!  Such a great Before and After turn out :)

Natural Nail Mani - Blue shooting stars

This manicure was done on one of my best friends mothers - Marsha Decola (loooooove her!).  And guess what?  These are actually her REAL nails!  Ok, ok, so I fixed a few with Gel because she broke four... but her nails really grow this long, and they're strong!  So we simply cleaned up her cuticles and free edges, did the fixes on the broken ones and then topped it with traditional polish (though I cant remember what colors right now).  Last we topped everything off with a Konad stamp of shooting stars from Cheeky plate CH26 and Konad White stamping polish.  Love it!

Pink and White Delight

This is just a simple set of pink and white acrylics that I did on my friend Lindsay for a wedding she was in.  Excuse the quality of the photo, i forgot my camera so it was taken with her phone.  Beautiful smile lines though! :)   We used Young Nails Cover pink, natural pin, and Young Nails white to create this look.  Then we topped it all off with Gelish Top it Off top coat!

Gwen Stefani by OPI :) Can't Wait!

The OPI and Gwen Stefani 2014 collaboration set has had its press release!  I really hate posting about these things, but this one I'm actually excited about.  Looks like an interesting collection!  I'm not going to bore you with a bunch of words.  I'll give you the pictures and an exerpt from the press release explaining the colors.  Enjoy!

"Gwen’s signature red OPI hue – Over & Over A-Gwen – is available in a boxed set, which includes Swarovski black crystals and silver, gold and pewter studs in bar, square, diamond and circle shapes for creating unique nail designs, as well as nail glue for easy application. Love.Angel.Music.Baby. and 4 in the Morning feature a new, semi-matte satin finish designed to be worn without top coat. Push and Shove, a bold chrome hue, is also worn without top coat but requires a special complimentary base coat – Lay Down that Base. One thin coat of Lay Down that Base topped with two thin coats of Push and Shove yields an intense, mirrored finish. The collection is rounded out with two glossy crème lacquers and one sparkly glitter shade: Hey Baby, I Sing in Color, and In True Stefani Fashion.

Gwen Stefani by OPI includes the following seven limited edition nail lacquers: Hey Baby, I Sing in Color, Love.Angel.Music.Baby., 4 in the Morning, In True Stefani Fashion, Push and Shove* and Over & Over A-Gwen**."

Bubbles My Bubbles!

Ive got another gel manicure for you today!  This Gelish manicure was done on my lovely friend Joan - she needed a little sparkle in her life and this was just what she needed :)  This is a base of Ooba Ooba Blue with custom glitter embedded on top.  Last we finished off the ring fingers with accent bubbles done with Konad White Stamping polish and Mash 43 stamping plate.  Hope you like it!

Frosted Hearts

This is another set of gel nails done on my friend Chauncy - seriously, she's a great hand model, such dainty fingers!  Anyway, this set was done using Light Elegance glitter gels and hard gels.  The silver glitter gel is LE Disco, and then we just finished sculping the nail with the clear builder gel.   A quick file, buff and then we stamped on the hearts with White Konad Stamping Polish and Bundle Monster BM11 stamping plate.  Love how they turned out.  The Disco glitters so much more in real life.

Dandelion Drift

I feel like starting out every blog post with "This is one of my favorites"... because i've been doing a lot of nails lately that im pretty much absolutely in love with!  This is just a really simple gel manicure with Gelish Oocha Coocha Bing Bang Bam Alakazy Alakazam (again, can you tell its one of my favorite colors?).  I think we did three coats and then the wispy dandelion seeds from the Mash 30 stamping plate using Konad White stamping polish.  Love it! <3

Diva Pirate quites Pirating Life!

Announcement!!! :)  It's official that after this trip offshore I will be joining a Salon in Pittsburgh and attempting to build a clientele and stay land-locked for the foreseeable future. No more being a Pirate! The actual salon is still undecided, but i have quite a few interested in my work. Thanks everyone who has supported my love of nails and the beauty industry. I'm super excited to try and make this change!

That being said - most of the salons I'm interviewing with do NOT do artificial nails and are NOT open Mondays. Therefore I'm planning to do nails from home Mondays. For those regulars of mine, we'll work out something steady for you once i figure out my hours.
So.  Wish me luck!  This is a HUGE change!

Skull-tastic Star Burst

This is a manicure that i did after removing acrylic nails on my friend Erin.  Her nails were still in great shape, but we decided to dress them up Halloween-style.  So this is a purple gel polish (Gelish Star Burst) with stamped silver dots.  On the ring fingers we stamped white skulls and topped everything off with Gelish Top It Off.  Looove the shine!  The silver doesn't show up in pictures well, but looks awesome in person :)  I think this would be a fun manicure for anyone getting into the Halloween spirit! :)
