Happy New Years!

So real quick, here is what I'm wearing for new years.  I went classy on my nails, and then back to Chrstmas-y for my toes.  Again,  apologies for the pictures (especially the middle one).  These were taken on the boat and I had one heck of a time getting photos that even showed the nails, let alone good photos.  The toes are just OPI Blair with red holly berries.  My aim was a bit off on the left foot too, so they're not the same, but still cute none the less. The sparkles make me happy.  And for my nails I used my leftover blue sparkles that are embedded in my fake nails and then layered over a triangle of black and lined it all with some silver sparkles.  And for it being 6 weeks since the nails have been filled... I think they're looking alright.  3 weeks left before I can get home and fill them.  Ugh.  They're going to be almost off at that point!  Anyway, wishing everyone a very happy New Years.  Stay Safe out there!

My Christmas Nails

Ugh, I finally got some time to get these pictures up for you (it took about 20 minutes to get the 3 photos loaded).  These are what I wore for Christmas.  Sorry about the pedi being chipped,  I did it a few weeks ago and didnt take a picture right away... oops.  Anyway, my nails had zoya Blair on it with some green sparkles.  Nothing fancy at all, I wasn't feeling artsy, but I did want something Christmas-y.  Then for the toes its just OPI Alpine Snow with red and green stripes.  Merry Christmas everyone!  Hope you're having a wonderful holiday!

zoya red gelish mani

Well its December 23rd,  Im still out on the ship, and Im getting sick.  So excuse my lack of writing on this post.  This was a Gelish manicure that I did before I came out on the ship.  I really wasn't feeling any of the gelish colors though, so I tried sandwiching a Zoya polish (Blair) in-between the base and top coat of the Gelish... It worked, but it did start chipping after about 1 1/2 weeks.  Anyway, this is 2 coats of Blair with a black paisley design stamped on.  Sorry I dont have the stamp number, but I can tell you that it is definitely Bundle Monster.  It didn't show up well on the photo, but it looked pretty great in person.  Happy Holidays everyone!

Drilledout red glitter

Before I left for the boat I got a chance to practice drilling out smile lines.  Above is the end product but I'll take you through the steps a bit.
This is the nail drill that I have.  Its nothing to special but it definitely gets the job done.  Plus its pink and blue

First I started out by taking a nailpolish striper and drawing on my smile lines approximately where I wanted them.  Don't mind the star stamped ring finger, i was just having fun and figured it would get filed off anyway in the end.

This is a diamond drill bit used for backfills.  There are several different shapes you can use, but this one works easiest for me.
So here is my thumb nail after its drilled.  You work the diamond bit from right to left until your smile line is etched and then remove the rest of the acrylic or gel from the free edge.
This is just a photo of the in between stage.  Once I'm done drilling, I go back with a regular file and file the smile line so that it is even and crisp.

After all of that was done it was time to start adding in your color.  I was using gels here, so I first put a thin layer of red gel paint in the area that was drilled out.  I then sprinkled the red paint with red and orange glitter and cured it in a UV lamp for 3 minutes.  Then I covered everything with a clear gel and cured again for 3 minutes.  After that all you have to do is file into shape and apply the sealant (or topcoat).  Here's a few pictures showing the end result.

I still need some practice, but i've come a long way!  Hope you enjoy!

White and gold

Well... this is fun.   My boat's internet comes from Norway... and now my blogger editor is in Norwegian.  What  I do before coming out to the boat is just upload all the photos into separate blogs that arent published yet and go back and write the blog part of it when I'm ready to post... well, thats a lot more difficult seeing as I keep getting error messages in Norwegian when I tried to move the photos.  So a huge apology for the picture spam at the beginning of the post. And another apology for the fact that this manicure isnt all that good.  Actually, I'd love it if it werent for the fact that these stickers just dont stay down...  Maybe sometime I'll try it free hand.  But for now, here you go, a lovely Design FX manicure.  Oh... and I really hate white on myself...  Just thought I'd throw that in there.

blue and white swirls

Alright Girlies.  Im on my way back out to the boat and I have noooo idea what the internet situation is going to be like.  Ive uploaded all my photos that I had stored into posts so that I can just post them from blogger if that website isnt blocked.  I hope not!  Anway, its going to be a few days before I can post again, and most likely I'll be posting just once weekly.  These are nails I did on my friend a few weeks ago.  They are Gel extensions using Light Elegance clear and glitter gels.  The first picture is the before, and the last two pictures are the after.  I applied tips, then white glitter gel with a swirl on the ring fingers.  I tipped the edges with peacock colored glitter, and finally topped everything with clear gel.  Then they were filed down to a lovely shape and then topped off with a sealer :)  Hope you like them.  It was my first attempt at doing this kind of nails.  I'm pretty happy with them!

Bubbles

Well, I'm on my boat and they're really strict about talking about it, so all i'll say is that I'm incredibly happy.  Things have gone fairly smoothly and thats really all you can ask for in this business.  So with that being said, I'm feeling rather bubbly, which is why I decided to share this post today.  This is a simple manicure using the Design FX free samples that I got out of Nail Pro Magazine.  The silver polish is China Glaze, but I cant remember the name at the moment.  What do you think?

And from now until I get off the ship, a lot of my posts are going to be short and spread apart.  Sorry!  When I get back to land my posts will get back to being daily-ish again.  For now, once or twice a week!  Thanks for sticking with me!
