NailPro Sacramento Day 1

Picture
I can't believe the first day of NailPro Sacramento 2011 is already done and over with! It's been a long long day, but its definitely been worth it. I got up at 3:45 am to catch my 5:40am flight. I went from Pittsburgh to Atlanta, and then finally to Sacramento. I was all checked in at the hotel my 10:45 am (yey time differences!) and found out that my hotel shuttle would drive me to and from the Sacramento Convention Center free of charge. How cool is that? After a quick shuttle ride I arrived at the convention center and set foot in my very first Nail Expo, and most certainly not my last. It was a bit overwhelming at first. People were absolutely everywhere, trying to get to all the good deals before they sold out. But when it came down to it, I met some really nice cosmetologists. Not long lasting friends, but being here by myself wasn't as bad as I thought. So I ended up with some cool things. Here's a happy list!

OPI polishes: OPI Ink, Yodel me on my cell, Not like the movies, Yoga-ta get this blue!, Cozu-melted in the sun, Royal rajah ruby, Meet me on the star ferry.

Orly polishes: Rococo a go-go, Fowl play, Royal velvet, Sweet peacock, Stone cold, Emberstone, Androgynie, Oui, Plum, Love each other.

Dazzle Your Nail Supply: Animal print acrylic.

Lumos: Top and bottom coat

LE (Light Elegance): Gel starter kit, Peacock glitter gel, Pure Purple glitter gel

So Easy: Stripe Rite in dark green glitter, light green glitter, neon orange, and brownish purple glitter.

Kandy: Glitter eyeliner kit with 4 glitter colors.

And last but not least a rhinestone Tshirt that says "I love nails" with a huge heart. Seriously its sweet :)

But I didn't just buy things. Really, I promise. Okay, well that is mostly what I did, but I also watched lots of demos and talked to different booths about their products. I even had LE put on a gel nail on my pointer finger (I'm sorry that I forget the educators name, but she was amazing). Seriously it is the prettiest thing I've ever seen. She used a green gel on the tip, followed by "spearmint" glitter gel, and then "peacock" glitter gel, some mylar, a few black stripes with more gel paint, and topped it all off with a nice heap of clear gel. Here's a picture of it... and honestly the picture doesn't do it justice at all. Its about 100 times more sparkly than this, and the very tip of it is a more vibrant blue. Oh the shortcomings of cameras.

Then I had a lovely lady from Young Nails do a 3D flower on top of the gels I already had on. It was great to see the technique up close and personal, but I have to say I'm not a fan. Not because its not pretty, it is. But because I can't stand having texture on my nails, catching on anything I touch. Now if it were built into the nail, I'd be all for it. Needless to say, I took a picture of the nail, and picked off the flower. Sorry! But here it is:

So that wraps up day one in nail heaven. Can't wait for tomorrow! It'll be a short day. I've just got one hands on workshop from 8am - noon. We'll see how it goes. Hope you had fun reading about my first nail show. And for all you licensed nail techs/cosmetologists: keep up with the continuing education!
